FAQs

Should I rent an apartment or a beach front house in Paraty, Brazil?

If you are 4 or more adults then probably best to stay in one of the beach front houses. If you are a small family or two adults then the apartments are perfect. If you want to stay in a hotel/B&B then we can also recommend various options.

How far from Paraty old town are the beach front houses and apartments?

Jasmim, Lirio, Maya and Yara, as well as the apartments are 1.2 km from the old town just over the hill where Paraty's old fort is situated. The houses Safira, Ambar and Ruby are another 300 metres up the beach away from the town so another few minutes walk

Where can we eat?

All our houses and apartments have decent kitchens if you want to prepare food yourselves. There is a supermarket approximately 150 metres from the houses and the apartments on the beach front road. If you are staying in Jasmim, Lirio, Maya, Yara or any of the apartments it's up the beach road away from the town on the left-hand side. If you are staying in Safira, Ambar or Ruby houses then it's towards town on the right-hand side. You can have breakfast in the café at the front of the beach-front supermarket. It’s not fancy but it’s beach front! On the beach there are 9 beach bars/restaurants/”quiosques” as the Brazilians call them. The second beach bar/restaurant from the far end is called La Luna and has Argentine management and a cool relaxed atmosphere. It’s open for lunch and dinner and has a range of prices and a decent menu. The 3rd to the 8th are all Brazilian with Brazilian music and vibe. The 9th/1st bar/restaurant at the bottom of the hill coming from town is called Balaccobacco. It has an Italian owner and is the best beach bar during the day, also with good food. Apart from La Luna, all are only open in the daytime. There's a place called "o sereia do mar" on the beach front on the corner on the same block as Jasmim, Lirio, Maya, Yara that is also open in the evening for food. Over the hill on Pontal beach is a bar/restaurant on the beach called Lapinha that has excellent seafood. In the old town the following are great restaurants open in the evening: Caminho do Ouro, Dolce Vita, Punto Divino, Margarida Café…Coupé is a restaurant on the square that is good for people watching. Quintal das letras, Banana da terra and Bartolomeu also have great reputations in the old town. Just google them and see what you prefer. If you require a maid/cook we can also arrange this.
