Is the Free Walking Tour of Paraty Free?

https://freewalkertours.com/paraty/ Free walking tours are a global phenomenon these days. You book your tour online and then the amount you give is optional. This being said it is customary to give at least 50 Reais or approx. 10 USD per person. The Paraty walking tour in English is generally given by a man called Harry. Harry went to private school in Buenos Aires back in the day and speaks English like King Charles. He’s an absolute diamond. If the Free Walking Tour timetable doesn't fit your schedule then I can potentially arrange a private tour with either Harry or Michael (Paddy) for 150 BRL per person. Just call or whatsapp me.

What options are there on boat tours to the islands/tropical beaches?

There are many companies offering boat trips to the islands. It all depends on what you are looking for. You may want to catch a large boat with lots of Brazilians where lunch is included. They can have a fun atmosphere especially if you add Caipirinha to the mix. The majority of boats go from the “Cais” (pier) the far side of Paraty old town. From Jabaquara beach you can also get private boats to the islands. These are smaller boats that go to the various top island and tropical beach destinations..and if you are looking for more seclusion seek out those spots. In peak season for Brazilians (Dec/Jan/Feb) these top places to stop can get a little crowded but come April to October when there are less people means that things won’t be crowded. https://escunaestreladamanha.com.br/ is one option. https://paratybooking.com.br/atividade/passeio-de-escuna-com-almoco-incluso-10h30/ comes with lunch. https://www.paratyexplorer.com.br/boat-tours-in-paraty : here you get to curate your own trip away from the crowds and with Stand Up Paddle boards on board if you wish. Sip an ice cold caipirinha on top of your private boat! Quote rioparaty.com. These are some options but let’s have a conversation about what’s best for you and we can arrange....the private hire boats from Jabaquara beach don’t have websites but we have images to show.

What is the optional Trindade beach visit?

The village of Trindade has a few breath-taking beaches 40 mins drive from Paraty. It’s possible to go there by bus from the main Paraty bus station. The bus goes on the hour ie. 9am, 10am etc. and has TRINDADE in big capital letters written on the front of it. There is also a smaller bus that goes on the half hour. Just say Trindade at the bus station and people will try and help you! Make sure you have some cash to pay the bus there and back as they don't take cards. Its around 6 reais per person. We can also arrange a car to drop you there for 140 BRL. Some of the beaches have restaurants on them like Praia do Rancho. Praia do Meio is a short walk and there are no kiosk/bars allowed there. If you walk up a steep trail over a headland (at the end of the beach) you get to Praia da Caxadaço which is a more secluded beach (there are a couple of restaurants on this beach). At the end of this beach if you keep walking are a series of rocks that form a natural swimming pool “Piscinas naturais”. There is an option to take a small boat back to the main beach from the natural pools if you don’t want to walk back.

What is the optional Praia de Sono beach visit?

After 13 mins 30 watch instructions in the below video on how to get to the start of the trail to Praia de Sono via bus from the Paraty bus station: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0OcuoyLZPQ Alternatively, we could arrange a car to drop you at the start of the trail for 150 BRL. You can catch a small boat back to close to where the bus goes back..as he says in the video, or you can just walk back. If someone can’t manage the walk there they could also take the small boat to the beach from the Laranjeiras condominium! There are also guided hiking trips to Praia de Sono and the next 3 beaches as far as Ponta Negra - see hiking section. Here is a video in Brazilian Portuguese describing this if you are fit and want to do it yourself but best not to do alone as there is no reception for much of the trip and the trails off season are not busy at all..the locals often go by boat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-n58sx42DY
